Newtopia Magazine: "Hot Hot Hot...Fahrenheit 911"

Newtopia Magazine | EXCLUSIVE - "Hot Hot Hot...Fahrenheit 911", A pre-release review by Irene Tejaratchi // Summer 2004: "Fahrenheit 9/11 never flat out asks but does beg the question of how the Bush administration may have benefited from the tragedy of 9/11. The exploitation of that day is a recurring theme, from gadgets designed for the fearful masses to the passage of the Patriot Act to the invasion of Iraq. Mass media manipulation and the clear bias of reporters is nicely held up to the light, a good jolt for those who solely depend on CNN or Fox for their news. Fahrenheit 9/11 upsets that complicity by triggering questions and shaking up the luxurious oblivion affordable to Americans who are so far and detached from the war that they don't have to consider its reality. The networks might televise bacchanalian images of 'smart bombs' exploding in the distant Iraqi skies but Moore shows you a bit of what follows - the bloody corpses, aching mothers, and amputee soldiersInvaluable footage because people should see what their taxes are paying for. Other documentaries, such as 'Control Room,' show considerably more, but unlike 'Fahrenheit 911' they won't get play in major movie theaters, they remain confined to a few indie theaters in liberal towns.
