Hollywoodreporter.com: 'Fahrenheit' boils over

Hollywoodreporter.com: "Lions Gate's 'Fahrenheit 9/11' raised the temperature at the boxoffice as the controversial documentary from director Michael Moore opened in the top spot with an estimated $21.8 million -- a $22 million cume since its limited release Wednesday. The R-rated 'Fahrenheit,' which was co-distributed by IFC Films and Bob and Harvey Weinstein's Fellowship Adventure Group, exceeded expectations and marked the biggest opening ever for a documentary.

Michael Moore added: "It surprised me, and it's surprised everyone as to how well this film has done. I don't know if it will change the election, but we're seeing strong responses in both the red and blue states," referring to Democrat- and Republican-leaning states. "Fahrenheit" had a modest $6 million budget, and less than $10 million was spent on prints and advertising."
