Twin Cities : Moore room at U

What a difference a year makes. When Michael Moore appeared at the University of Minnesota last October to read from his best-selling book "Stupid White Men,'' he drew a sell-out crowd of more than 4,000 to the university's Sports Pavilion. When the controversial author/filmmaker returns Oct. 8, he'll be in Williams Arena, which holds about 14,625. Moore will show film clips and talk about his new book, "The Official Fahrenheit 9/11 Reader,'' a companion to his award-winning documentary, "Fahrenheit 9/11.'' His appearance, sponsored by University of Minnesota Bookstores, will cost $5 for the public, $4 for students. Tickets will be on sale at the Coffman Union bookstore on the Minneapolis campus and the St. Paul Student Center, as well as at the door.

Kari Erpenbach, U bookstores marketing manager, says the university's security personnel are working closely with Moore's staff. "We have to make security arrangements for anyone of this caliber, especially in a facility as large as Williams Arena,'' Erpenbach says. (Moore's appearance will begin at 7 or 7:30 p.m. More information will appear on
