Filmmaker Michael Moore to Speak at UWGB

Controversy seems to follow him everywhere he goes, and now Michael Moore is coming to Green Bay.

The documentary filmmaker kicks off a 60-city tour next month, mainly visiting college campuses, including U.W.-Green Bay. Moore calls it his "Slacker Uprising Tour."

The director of the President Bush-bashing film "Fahrenheit 9/11" and a film attacking America's gun culture, "Bowling for Columbine," says he's hitting the swing states in an effort to get young people out to vote.

Moore will hold two shows at the Weidner Center at 7:30 and 9 p.m. on Saturday, October 23rd. Tickets go on sale October 1st for students and October 2nd for the general public.

Bringing Moore to U.W.-Green Bay only days before the presidential election is, as you might imagine, causing some controversy.

"From everyone we've heard, they are really upset he's coming to campus and they are using our money to bring him in," UWGB Republican John Kumm said.

"He's one of the best documentary makers in the business these days," UWGB Democrat Jim Biese said. "So we are really honored to have such a national figure on campus like that."
